Bookfox Partners

Across the charity and community sector, demand for services and the cost of delivering them keep rising while funding gets harder to find, and organizations are looking for new ways to pay for their work. A Bookfox partnership raises money for your organization by collecting books people no longer need and selling those with a resale market online.

Your organization can use Bookfox even if it does not currently collect or sell books.

There's no cost or subscription. Sign up, and we'll get in touch to talk about the ways we can help you raise money.

Ways to raise money with Bookfox

You can start with one or use all four, and add or stop any of them later.

Your organization gets half of the profit on every book we sell. Here’s how that is worked out.

  1. Share your link

Invite supporters to give books through your Bookfox link. Supporters with at least ten boxes can book collection directly with us, so your organization does not need to receive or store anything.

    What Bookfox does
    • We collect from supporters' homes once at least ten boxes are ready.
    • Every book given through your link is credited to your organization.
    • We prepare and list the books that have a resale market, then handle buyer questions, postage and returns.
    What your organization does
    • Share your link wherever people will see it, such as a newsletter, a social post or a notice.
    • No books come to you, and there is nothing to store, sort or record.

What you earnHalf of the profit on every book that sells, paid by Interac e-Transfer. Your half on books sold in a calendar month is paid on the last working day of the next month, with a statement.

  2. Host a collection point

Give your community a place to drop books off. We supply the boxes and collect them at no charge.

    What Bookfox does
    • We supply the boxes, the stickers that tag each box to your organization and all the promotional material: posters, signage, and wording you can drop into a newsletter or a post.
    • Once you have at least ten boxes, we collect them at no charge, do the lifting and leave empty boxes for the next round.
    • We take care of sorting and selling, and we donate or recycle whatever doesn't sell.
    What your organization does
    • Let your community know they can bring books to you, and put what arrives into the Bookfox boxes.
    • Your team does not need to sort, price, record or look up the books.
    • When you have at least ten boxes, tell us and we'll arrange the collection.

  3. Run a book drive

Pick a day and a place, one of your own or a community venue, and invite people to bring the books they no longer need. It suits schools, and groups that can’t host books all year or are outside our usual collection area.

    What Bookfox does
    • We help you choose a date and, if you need one, a venue.
    • We supply the posters and wording you can share with your community.
    • We collect everything at the end of the day, then sort and sell the books.
    What your organization does
    • Spread the word before the day.
    • Have a few people on hand to welcome donors and fill the boxes.

  4. Run a thrift store, bookstore or book sale? Bookfox Scan

Our app helps you sort them: it suggests which of your own sections each book belongs in, and flags the ones we think will sell well online and earn more for your organization.

    What Bookfox does
    • Our software identifies each book and gives your team a shelf suggestion based on your own sections, or suggests selling it through Bookfox for a better price.
    • When a book sells, you see exactly what it sold for, the marketplace’s fees and postage, our handling allowance, and your half.
    • We show your team how to use the app. New staff and volunteers join by scanning one of your codes.
    What your organization does
    • Tell us the sections you already sort into.
    • Staff and volunteers then scan each book as they sort.
    • You choose which books to pass to us, and keep anything you'd rather sell yourself.
    • Try it for as long as you like. If it isn’t for you, stop any time, no hard feelings.

What you earnHalf of the profit on every book that sells, paid by Interac e-Transfer each month, with a statement. Nothing is paid when you send the books; you are paid as they sell.

    You’re paid every month

Once you’ve signed up, we’ll get in touch to talk it through. Have books to give? You don’t need an account: book a free pickup once you have ten boxes, or a drop-off.

What happens to the books

We sell online, where older, specialist and hard-to-find books have a better chance of reaching the people searching for them. A title that looks ordinary on a book sale table may be exactly what a reader elsewhere wants.

We decide which books go on sale when we sort them. A book with no resale market (for example a Reader’s Digest condensed edition, an old encyclopedia, a book-club reprint, or a damaged copy) is not listed and is not paid for; we recycle it or pass it on.

Usable books we cannot sell may be donated to charities, libraries or other organizations. Books that are no longer readable are recycled where facilities accept them.

A book that suits a book sale or shelves your organization already runs stays with your organization. We take only the books you choose to pass on.

Books are listed and sold under the Bookfox name, so your organization is not presented as the seller or responsible for individual titles.
